LAMWO, UGANDA–Lamwo Resident District Commissioner, Mr. William Komakech, has urged residents of Lamwo to actively get involved and participate in various government programmes and projects to benefit from wealth creation initiatives.

The RDC said he has intensified monitoring of government programmes, including the Restocking and Parish Development Model (PDM) programmes, to ensure transparency and value for money.

He warned SACCO group leaders against lack of transparency and coordinated corruption, saying his office will not tolerate manipulation of the poor during PDM assessment espicially charging extra fees in government aided schools.
“I will take serious action on PDM SACCO leaders by arresting some of them suspected for manipulating the poor,” Komakech said adding that “We shall not allow anyone to take advantage of vulnerable people.”
On the restocking programme, Komakech said beneficiary guidelines must be strictly adhered to and warned that anyone who tries to extort money from beneficiaries will be dealt with immediately and legally.
He at the same time commended some successful PDM beneficiaries who have followed H.E the President’s guidelines on wealth creation and “Kisanja No Sleep no corruption” and are already transforming their households.
