OTUKE, UGANDA , November 6, 2025 – The football landscape in Otuke County is set for a significant boost with the announcement of a major inter-sub-county tournament boasting an impressive prize pool of over 6 million Uganda shillings. The initiative, spearheaded by vibrant Otuke County Member of Parliament Hon. Paul Omara, aims to not only unearth burgeoning football talent but also to foster a spirit of unity among the youth across the constituency.

MP Omara, who is also the NRM flag bearer in Otuke County for the upcoming general elections, revealed the tournament’s dual objective: identifying and nurturing skilled young footballers while simultaneously strengthening camaraderie between different communities. The competition is slated to take place in November 2025.
The stakes are high for the participating teams, with a substantial sum allocated to reward excellence. The champions will walk away with a handsome reward of 2 million shillings accompanied by gold medals and a coveted trophy. The runners-up will secure silver medals and 1.5 million shillings, while the third-place finishers will receive bronze medals and 1 million shillings. A considerable 500,000 shillings has also been set aside for the fourth-placed team.Beyond the cash prizes, logistical support is being provided to ensure a smooth and professional competition. All participating teams have already received essential uniforms and two footballs each to facilitate their training sessions in preparation for the tournament. The competition fixtures have been officially drawn, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling series of matches.
During a recent meeting with coaches and team captains, MP Omara underscored the paramount importance of sportsmanship. He implored all participants to embrace and embody the “spirits of brotherhood, love, excellence, and discipline throughout the games.”

This football tournament is a significant component of MP Omara’s broader vision for youth empowerment in Otuke County. It aligns with his existing efforts, which include supporting 24 SACCO groups actively engaged in green jobs. The MP strongly encouraged talented young footballers to view this tournament as a vital platform, offering a potential pathway for scouting by higher-level leagues.
While the exact dates for the tournament’s matches are yet to be formally announced, organizers are anticipating enthusiastic participation from all sub-counties and town councils within Otuke County. The substantial prize money and the focus on talent development are expected to draw considerable attention and competition, making this a landmark event for youth sports in the region.
