Political Battle Kicks Off in Kilak North as MP Hopeful, Okot Kenneth, donated sports equipments to youth groups.
AMURU, UGANDA – November 8, 2025 – Political temperatures are soaring in Kilak North Constituency, Amuru District, as independent candidate Hon. Okot Kenneth ignites widespread grassroots support through a strategic donation of sports equipment to local youth groups.
The move, seen by observers as a crucial early maneuver, has signaled a significant shift toward a “young blood and community pro agenda” ahead of the official campaign season for the 12th Parliament elections.
Okot Kenneth, widely known by his rallying nickname “Okot okelo Kuc” (Okot brings peace/hope), recently provided numerous footballs to youth teams. This gesture has generated immediate momentum, with many young constituents openly pledging their allegiance to the independent contender.
Challenging the Status Quo
While official campaigns are scheduled to begin on November,10, 2025, the political landscape in Kilak North has taken an abrupt twist. Several influential youth leaders are promising to back Okot Kenneth, vowing to mobilize support necessary to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament, Anthony Akol.
The timing of the donation is crucial, tapping into the enthusiasm of sports lovers at a period when political engagement is ramping up in Amuru.
Speaking about the initiative, Hon. Okot emphasized that the donations went beyond mere political outreach, focusing instead on community unity, development and discipline among the good youth of AMURU particularly Kilak North constituency.

“We are giving out footballs to youth groups and teams to really help them keep fit as we talk to them about self-discipline, drug abuse, and the benefits of pursuing a professional career in sports,” stated Okot. “We believe in investing in the physical and moral well-being of the next generation as they wait to vote in 2026 general elections .”
“Discipline and determination message is key in our agenda to the vibrant youth in their various groups in Kilak North here,”Added Kenneth.
The message of discipline resonates strongly across the constituency. Supporters view Okot not just as a candidate but as a figure committed to ethical leadership, a perception fueling the growing belief that he is destined for the 12th Parliament.

“Come sunshine, come rain, Okot will join the 12th parliament of Uganda since he is a disciplined candidate,” remarked one local youth organizer, highlighting the high levels of confidence among his growing base in Atiak Sub-County.
The incumbent MP, Anthony Akol, now faces a serious challenge from this immediate challenger called Hon Okot at the moment. Okot’s strategic focus on the youth—a highly influential voting bloc—has created a potent environment of political change, setting the stage for one of the most hotly contested races in the region.
The coming weeks are expected to see intensified political activity as both candidates scramble to consolidate support ahead of the final electoral voting date on the 15th, January , 2026. For now, however, the political cake is highly and firmly believed to be in the hands of honourable Okot Kenneth.
