APAC—November 10, 2025: Lango sub-region leaders and the general public are mourning the death of H.H Yosam Odur Ebii, the Paramount cultural chief of Lango Cultural Foundation. Hon. Nelson Okello Lemba, the Member of Parliament for Maurzi North County in Apac District, expressed profound grief following the death of His Highness Yosam Odur Ebii. The revered chief passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 99.
His Highness Yosam Odur Ebii breathed his last at Lira University Teaching Hospital, where he had been receiving medical care over the past week. The passing was officially confirmed by Frederick Ogwal Oyee, the Prime Minister of the Lango Cultural Foundation.

In a heartfelt tribute delivered shortly after the announcement following yhe death of Yosam Odur (RIP), MP Okello Lemba described the late cultural head as a “good leader” and lamented his death as a “big loss” for the entire nation. He particularly highlighted the chief’s instrumental role in fostering unity across Northern Uganda Teso and more espicially the Lango sub-region.
“On behalf of myself and the people of Maurzi North County, it is with great sadness that I regret the death of our Lango Paramount Chief,” said Okello. “Death has indeed robbed us of a legitimate, remarkable leader, a great vibrant leader who was dedicated to serving Lango and was a true champion for Lango cultural leadership.”
The MP emphasized the deep connection the chief had to his subjects and the government, noting that the chief’s home, Won Nyaci, located within Maurzi North, stands as a lasting symbol of his mission. Okello narrated that the legacy of the late Paramount chief would be remembered forever , marked by connectivity, peace, unity, and togetherness.

“We shall remember your words forever,” Okello added, stressing the impact of the chief’s decades of service.
Yosam Odur Ebii ascended to the throne as the Lango Paramount Chief in 2003, leading the Lango Cultural Foundation for over two decades with vision and unwavering dedication to preserving cultural heritage and promoting communal harmony.
As the Lango sub-region and the entire country enter a period of mourning, leaders and community members alike continue to reflect on the monumental legacy and enduring impact of His Highness Yosam Odur Ebii.
