MP.Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti extends support to uplift Sports and Culture Boom in Kole North County
KOLE NORTH, UGANDA – November 11, 2025 – The district of Kole North is witnessing an unprecedented surge in sports development and cultural enrichment, largely attributed to the significant investments and dedicated efforts of Hon. Samuel Opio Acuti, Member of Parliament for the region. In just a few years within the 11th Parliament, Hon. Acuti has demonstrably championed initiatives that resonate deeply within the community.
A testament to his commitment to grassroots sports is his organization of two highly successful Christmas Cup tournaments. These events brought together an impressive total of 135 teams from all 27 parishes within Kole North, culminating in a thrilling 141 matches. Demonstrating a keen focus on inclusivity, Hon. Acuti further organized the Uhuru Cup, a dedicated tournament for women’s football teams, celebrating national independence through sport. His support extends to the very foundations of local clubs, with over 200 footballs distributed to various teams across the district.
Beyond grassroots competitions, Hon. Opio Acuti has been instrumental in advocating for significant infrastructural development. He jointly lobbied for the construction of the Akii-Bua Memorial Stadium, a project currently underway and poised to become a landmark for sporting events in the region. This lobbying effort has also yielded positive results for local infrastructure, spurring the construction of the Corner Ayer-Corner Qnoke-Ic2-Bobi road, vital for connectivity and accessibility.
The cultural landscape of Kole North has also been enriched by Hon. Acuti’s involvement. He has actively organized and supported numerous cultural galas, providing platforms for local traditions and artistic expression to flourish.
