Panic in Abim District as Aayoo Joyce Makamoi Gains Over 80% Support for Woman MP race
ABIM, UGANDA – November 12, 2025 – Aayoo Joyce Makamoe, a dynamic young woman, has dramatically reshaped the political landscape in Abim District, Uganda, for the Woman Member of Parliament seat, reportedly securing over 70% of support and causing palpable “panic” among her competitors. Her meteoric rise is positioning her as a formidable voice for transformation and development in the region.
The contest, which has now officially kicked off, sees Makamoi garnering immense daily backing from the Ethur community of Labwor County, Abim district. Her rapid ascent poses a significant challenge to the incumbent, Hon. Akech Janet Okorimoe, who is now facing an intense campaign feedback from the youthful challenger.

Dubbed a “political transformer” by her growing legion of followers, Aayoo Joyce Makamoi has presented a clear and comprehensive agenda focused on crucial areas such as peace-building, education reform, healthcare improvement, wealth creation, youth job opportunities, and upgrading vital road infrastructure.
The race has intensified with a well-organized team of campaign agents tirelessly working across the district. Reports from areas like Alerek, Morulem, Awach, Nyakwae, Abim Town Council, Orwamuge, and Abuk Town Council describe scenes of fervent support, with constituents enthusiastically carrying Makamoi on their shoulders during her rallies.

Makamoi herself, in an interview relayed by one of her key supporters in Abim Town Council, suggested that Hon. Okorimoe, who has been active in politics since 1996, “should now be given a job on the District Service Commission or Abim District Public Accounts Committee.” Makamoi emphasized that it is “Ewikono” – the youth – who should now take up leadership roles, signaling a generational shift.Central to her manifesto are pledges to renovate and rebuild Abim Hospital, significantly improve border security, amicably settle land conflicts through mediation and legal frameworks, and vigorously tackle the pressing issue of youth unemployment.

Thousands of voters have already bestowed upon her the moniker “Makamoe the Transformer,” highlighting their hope for systemic change.
