Judith Alyek Gains Momentum, Sparks Political Fire in Kole North 2026 MP Race.
KOLE, UGANDA – November 19, 2025 – A significant political shift is underway in Kole North Constituency, where the electoral landscape is heating up as Hon. Judith Alyek mounts a formidable challenge to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Samuel Opio Acuti.
Political observers report a growing wave of voter admiration for Alyek’s peaceful and strategic campaign, with many constituents now referring to her as the “Next MP for Kole North County.” This surge in support has reportedly caused palpable anxiety within the camp of the sitting MP.

Since her nomination, Hon. Alyek, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Lango Parliamentary Group, has consistently drawn large and enthusiastic crowds, often surpassing those of her rival. Her vigorous and massive mobilization efforts signal a fiercely contested battle for the parliamentary seat in the upcoming January 15, 2026, general elections.
The bedrock of her growing support appears to be a perceived dissatisfaction with the current leadership. Many loyalists and undecided voters cite a “leadership loophole” under Hon. Opio Acuti, promising to support Alyek “to the dot” as the right leader to address the constituency’s needs. This sentiment has been strong enough to cause defections, with several prominent members of Hon. Opio’s campaign team reportedly crossing over to Alyek’s camp.
On the campaign trail, voters are vocal about their reasons for shifting allegiance. A young NRM lady from Okwerodot Sub-county praised Alyek’s longstanding commitment, highlighting her donation of an ambulance and consistent support for various women’s groups. “She is the right Parliamentary material who has suffered with us all through,” the supporter stated.
Another voter, John from Alito, explained the change of heart, saying, “We have seen clear leadership skills in Hon. Judith Alyek, which is why we are voting for her instead of Opio Acuti.”
The Alyek campaign received a further boost with the endorsement of Okello Kony, a prominent local politician, who has thrown his full weight behind her bid to unseat the incumbent. While the race is primarily seen as a two-horse contest, Mr. Okello Blick, the UPC candidate, is also noted to be gaining some ground, adding another layer of intrigue to the electoral dynamics.
Attempts to get a comment from the incumbent, Hon. Samuel Opio Acuti, were unsuccessful, as he did not answer our repeated phone calls.
With the battle lines now clearly drawn, all eyes are on Kole North. The contest between the well-prepared Lango Parliamentary Group chairperson and the incumbent MP is poised to be one of the most intensely watched races in the region, promising a dramatic showdown on polling day.
