Tanzania President Hassan Unveils New 27-Member Cabinet, Prioritizes Youth Development.
DAR ES SALAAM – Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has announced a significant reshuffle of her cabinet, introducing a 27-member team that sees several key ministers retained in their posts while bringing fresh faces to crucial portfolios. The announcement, made during a televised address from Chamwino State House in the capital Dodoma on Monday, signals a strategic shift in the government’s direction.
Prominently, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo will continue his tenure as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, maintaining continuity in Tanzania’s international relations and regional engagement.
In a notable change, Khamis Mussa Omar has been appointed as the new Minister for Finance, taking over from Mwigulu Nchemba. Nchemba’s departure from the finance ministry is understood to be linked to his recent appointment as Prime Minister, a move that has also prompted broader cabinet adjustments.
Underscoring a key priority for her administration, President Hassan revealed the creation of a new ministry specifically dedicated to youth development. This move signifies the government’s heightened focus on empowering and addressing the needs of Tanzania’s young population.
The newly appointed ministers are expected to formally assume their roles and take the oath of office on Tuesday at Chamwino State House. The composition of this new cabinet is anticipated to shape the implementation of President Hassan’s development agenda in the coming months.
