MP Kenny Auma urges Kwania voters to elect competent leaders, not comedians.

KWANIA ,UGANDA -November 28, 2025:Kwania District Woman Member of Parliament Kenny Auma has urged voters in Kwania district to prioritize competent and people centered leaders when choosing their members of Parliament ahead of the 2026 general polls.

Addressing her supporters on Wednesday at Adagani cell, Punuatar ward in Ayabi town counci, Auma Kenny said Parliament is a place for serious legislative work not a stage for drama and trading fabricated propaganda.

Auma implored voters in Kwania to elect knowledgeable leaders with good reputations to represent them in the 12th Parliament as opposed to voting for comedians whom she said have no agenda for the people of Kwania.

“Vote for people who have worked for you. While in Parliament I brought an ambulance worth Shs320 million which is serving everybody irrespective of political party affiliations. I also initiated Skilling Initiative for the teenage mothers impregnated during Covid-19 lockdown, let alone the Cancer Screening Program and the continued support at burial, and wedding ceremonies.

I also legislated on the fate of flood victims on Lake Kwania, the fate of fishermen and I rejected in totality the Anti-Homosexuality Bill. I encourage you to vote for competent leaders like me, instead of wasting time with comedians “she said.

Manifesto unveiled

Auma pledged to open a vocational school to cater for the boy child, push for extension of power under the Rural Electrification Programs to areas like Ogwoko Parish in Abongomola Sub County, Agwiciri Parish in Inomo Sub County and Teyao trading center, Ongo-ceng Parish in Aduku Sub County, among other areas.

She said upgrade of hospitals like Aninolal HCII in Inomo Sub county, coding of schools like Adera Primary School in Chawente Sub County, support to the Village Savings Groups-VSLAs, under her initiative of empowering women at grassroots is on top of her agenda.

MP Auma challenged her rivals to distance from trading propaganda but play politics of maturity.

“I hear some of my rivals claiming that I am taking Kwania’s wealth to Agago District in Acholi sub-region where I am legally married and that I have mismanaged Shs. 1.3 billion Road Rehabilitation fund. Members of Parliament do appropriation, legislation and oversight. I am surprised that some candidates running for Parliament do not know the role of an MP. I think they should stop playing cheap politics but rather play mature politics by telling the electorates their manifestos not baseless accusations and personal attacks,”she added.

Auma Kenny, a bonified resident of Acut Village, Apire Parish in Aduku Sub County was elected Kwania District woman MP in 2021 after polling 37,497 votes, beating Independent candidate Apio Susan aka Atek-ilwak (7,857 votes), NRM flag bearer Achola Judith Eyer Ogwang (6,855 votes), Independent Amongi Judith Olope (1,328 votes), and Independent candidate Amek Mary Grace (475 votes).

She is currently facing, Apio Susan Atek-ilwak, NRM flag bearer and Kate Etit Okao of Forum for Democratic Change ahead of the January 15, 2026 Parliamentary and Presidential poll.

Auma, UPC startwal who has gained a strong ground is currently traversing Kwania, campaigning for Harriet Ajalo Omara, UPC flag bearer for Kwania County MP race, Patrick Ogwang Obia, UPC flag bearer for Kwania District LCV Chairperson’s Seat and other UPC candidates. The legislator has currently pitched camp in Ayabi town council.

At the same rally Harriet Ajalo Omara, UPC flag bearer for Kwania Constituency MP race said she will focus on supporting Village Saccos for socio-economic transformation, lobbying for vibrant projects and representing the underlying issues affecting her people on the floor of Parliament once elected.

Ajalo(UPC) who is facing three men in Kwania County Parliamentary race namely;incumbent MO Tony Ayo running under Independent ticket, Tony Eron of NRM and Erick Okek Independent candidate, rallied Kwania voters to use their mandate to prioritize ideology over monetary gains for community transformation and better representation in the 12 Parliament.

“Your vote is your mandate. It’s the cardinal role of an MP to lobby for development projects, something your MP has failed. Kwania County has suffered enough that is why Ajalo has come for you. I urge you to reject their money and vote for leaders with ideologies,”she said.

On his part, Patrick Ogwang Obia, Chawente Sub County former LC3 Chairman who is veying for Kwania District LCV Seat, told Kwania Constituents to rally behind him and ensure UPC win LCV Chairperson’s Seat to balance the leadership.

Ogwang Obia said LCV Chairman should be elected from Kwania County since the district Woman MP hails from Aduku Sub County, from Kwania North County for balanced development, pledging to improve on the poor road network in the district, improve the education and health sectors and fight on the job bribery’s syndrome at the district.
