ALEBTONG, UGANDA: The Resident District Commissioner of Alebtong, Mr. Okiswa Geoffrey, has rallied residents and shortlisted applicants to turn up in large numbers and with discipline for the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces [UPDF] recruitment exercise scheduled for Monday.
In a mobilization message to the district, RDC Okiswa announced that Alebtong District will participate in the UPDF recruitment on Monday, 17th August 2025 at 7:00am at Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira City, alongside other districts in the Lango Sub-region.
“Keep time and remain enthusiastic”said Okiswa
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) urged all shortlisted applicants from Alebtong to be punctual, well-prepared, and to uphold the values of discipline and patriotism that the UPDF stands for.
“Those shortlisted should ensure they keep time and remain enthusiastic. This is an opportunity to serve our nation with honor. I wish them success,” Okiswa said.
To ensure a smooth process for Alebtong candidates, the RDC said he has delegated Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) Mr. Ongom Lamek to coordinate and handle the district’s exercise on the ground.
He also called upon the District Internal Security Officer [DISO] to be present with the official stamp to endorse and sign off the district’s quota of successful recruits.
Call for continued mobilization:
RDC Okiswa appealed to local leaders, parents and stakeholders to help remind all applicants about the date, time and venue.
“Please remember to remind the applicants. Let us support our young men and women as they seek to join the national army and serve Uganda,” he added.
The UPDF recruitment drive across the country is part of efforts to boost troop numbers and give youth an opportunity to serve in the national army. District leaders have been tasked to mobilize and ensure transparency in the process.
The RDC’s proactive mobilization has been welcomed by leaders in Alebtong, who say his leadership is key in ensuring the district is well represented in the national forces.
