Alebtong Deputy RDC Mobilizes Residents Ahead of National Cleaning Day.

ALEBTONG–The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) for Alebtong, Mr. Lutwama Mathias, has rallied schools, health facilities and the business community to actively participate in the National Cleaning Day scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, September 26, 2026.
In his mobilization message, Lutwama said the exercise is part of the nationwide campaign under the theme: “A Clean Uganda, A Healthy Uganda.”
“The cleaning exercise is not just about collecting garbage. It is about building a culture of responsibility, hygiene and community pride,” he said.
According to the program, the exercise will run from 7:00am to 10:00am across Alebtong District, targeting trading centres, schools, health facilities, markets and individual places, major roads among others
Lutwama noted that local leaders, teachers, health workers, and business owners have been tasked to lead clean-up teams in their respective areas.
“We want every school to clean its compound, every health facility to ensure its surroundings are clean, and every business person to take responsibility for the frontage of their shop. Even travellers will have to first clean untill 10am. When we all do our small part, Alebtong becomes clean,” he emphasized.
He added that the district has provided dustbins and other cleaning tools to support the exercise, while urging residents to maintain cleanliness beyond the designated day.
The National Cleaning Day was declared by the government of Uganda to promote environmental sustainability and public health, with all districts expected to participate.
Residents are encouraged to turn up in large numbers with brooms, rakes and protective gear.
