Sustainability is key, says Gulu DRDC James Cosmas Okidi as World Vision exits

Gulu District–Sustainability is key for continued socio-economic transformation, the Gulu Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Afande Cosmas James Okidi, has emphasized.
He was speaking on Thursday, September 24, 2026, during World Vision’s closeout celebration held in Unyama Sub-county, Gulu District.
Okidi said the celebration was important for three reasons — to reflect on achievements, appreciate partners, and emphasize sustainability.
He commended World Vision for its tremendous contribution in education, health, livelihood and resilience.
According to him, the construction of classroom blocks and staff houses in schools and health facilities has had a great impact on teachers, learners and health workers.
He added that several farmers were supported through various agricultural interventions, including training, provision of inputs and social protection.
“I therefore want to encourage you the beneficiaries to embrace all this support and sustain the projects,” Okidi said.
He further requested the National Director of World Vision to support the district with motorcycles and other items to facilitate monitoring and supervision for continuity.
He said government under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will continue to provide peace and security across the country.
