Minister Santa Alum Ogwang hands over Shs10M from PM Nabbanja to Loro Catholic Parish.

Oyam, Uganda:The Minister of State for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President, and Oyam District Woman MP, Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, has delivered Shs10 million donation from Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Loro, in Oyam District.
The handover was made during celebrations marking the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, 2026, at the parish.
“Church is a key partner in development”
Minister Santa Alum commended the Catholic Church for its role in socio-economic transformation in communities, including Oyam District.
“The Church has played an important role in supporting government programmes and mobilising communities. She urged christians to continue supporting various government programs and initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, UWEP and restocking,” she said.
Minister Santa commended the President of the Republic of Uganda Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Prime minister Robinnah Nabanja for the different government interventions aimed at improving household incomes and livelihoods in Lango sub-region and other parts of Uganda.

In a message read by Minister Alum, Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja said “the Shs10 million contribution would be used to purchase chairs and other construction materials required to advance work on the church building.

The minister of economic monitoring who doubles as Oyam Woman MP Hon Santa Alum Ogwang, commended Christians of Loro Catholic Parish and the entire residents of Oyam District for their commitment and collective effort towards the construction project of the church.
“The determination and unity you have shown has enabled the church to make progress. As leaders, we have a responsibility to work together to attract resources and promote projects that benefit our communities,” she stated.
Minister Santa Alum also thanked Members of Parliament from Lango Sub-region and other parts of Uganda who have contributed financially in different capacities to support the construction of the church.
However, she pledged to continue mobilizing additional support for development initiatives in Lango sub region.
Bishop Wanok calls for cooperation:
The Bishop of Lira Diocese, Rt. Rev. Santus Lino Wanok, rallied church leaders, political leaders and Christians to continue working together for the development of the Church and the wider community.
He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among leaders, urging them to put aside differences and work collectively.
The event at Loro Catholic Parish was attended to full capacity, with several Christians jubilating the contribution of both government and the church towards the development of Loro Catholic Parish.
In attendance was the Chairperson of Lango parliamentary Group Hon MP Patrick Ogwang Obura among other clergy and local leaders from Oyam.
