ALEBTONG, UGANDA – December 15, 2025: All is now set for the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party president, Hon. Jimmy James Michael Akena Obote, to lead a high-profile campaign in Alebtong District this Friday in support of the party’s parliamentary flag bearers. The visit has sparked excitement among party supporters, in Ajuri county and Moroto county respectively with crowds already preparing to welcome him ahead of the scheduled gathering in anticipation of the campaign rallies.

The momentum has caught many by surprise, as residents show readiness to join the UPC wave ahead of the 2026 general elections. The party’s candidates—Jalamweso Fred, Hon. Caroline Aduku, and Elem Leo—are set to receive a major boost from Akena’s campaign as they seek to unseat incumbent rivals

Jalamwso Fred is contesting for the Ajuri constituency seat against the incumbent and current Government Chief Whip and NRM heavyweight, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua. Meanwhile, Hon. Caroline Aduku, popularly known as the “Mother General,” is vying for the Alebtong Woman MP position, and Elem Leo is the UPC flag bearer for Moroto County in Alebtong District.

Speaking exclusively to TAYARI NEWS UGANDA, Alebtong UPC Party Chairman Akung James Wapakabulo expressed confidence in the party’s prospects.
“Aduku Caroline Gloria, Jalamwso Fred, and Elem Leo are the next parliamentary leaders for Alebtong District in the January 15, 2026 general elections,” Wapakabulo declared. “The people are ready for change, and UPC is poised for victory.”

The surge in support for UPC comes amid growing enthusiasm for opposition campaigns across Uganda. Political analysts suggest that Akena’s presence in Alebtong could energize the party’s grassroots base, setting the stage for a competitive race.
As Friday’s rally approaches, large turnout of supporters from across the district are mobilizing to attend, signaling a potentially game-changing moment for UPC’s ambitions in Lango sub region and Northern Uganda.
