Agago, Uganda – In a heartfelt message delivered on Tuesday, Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Agago district, Mr. Oweka John Bostify, expressed his optimism that this year’s Christmas celebrations will be the most peaceful yet, provided residents adhere to security guidelines.
Mr. Oweka’s address emphasized the importance of unity, reflection, and responsible behavior during the festive season. He warned against acts of theft, particularly targeting Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups, as well as uncontrolled bush burning. These incidents, he stressed, undermine community cohesion and stability.
The Assistant RDC also urged residents to prioritize saving for school fees and to maintain faith in God, acknowledging the challenges faced throughout 2025. “We thank God for the gift of life, health, and strength to make it to this season. It is by His grace that we are here, and we must remain hopeful for what the future holds,” he said.
Residents of Agago district can celebrate Christmas without fear, Mr. Oweka assured, thanks to the protection provided by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), especially in border sub-counties such as Lapono, Lira Kato, Adilang, Paimol, and Omiya Pacwa.
Mr. Oweka took the opportunity to express gratitude to the government for its role in restoring peace to Northern Uganda. He also endorsed the candidacy of Hon. Akori Beatrice Akello, H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and other NRM flag bearers, urging residents to vote for them in the upcoming January 15, 2026, elections.
As the district prepares for a joyous and peaceful Christmas, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. By working together and following security guidelines, Agago district is poised to enjoy a festive season filled with hope, unity, and promise for a brighter future.
