OBONGI, UGANDA – December 16, 2025 – In a move aimed at boosting poverty alleviation programs in the region, the government has disbursed an additional 20 million shillings to the Obongi Constituency Emyooga Tailors SACCO. This latest funding brings the total amount allocated to the 18 Emyooga SACCOs in Obongi district to 940 million shillings.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, expressed his gratitude to the NRM government for its commitment to the social and economic transformation of Obongi district. “We appreciate the government’s care for our district, and we are thankful for the billions of shillings that have been allocated to us,” Hashaka said.
Hashaka also seized the opportunity to urge voters in Obongi to reciprocate the government’s gesture by voting for President Museveni and other NRM flag bearers in upcoming elections. “This will ensure that our district continues to receive more developmental programs,” he added.
The 18 Emyooga SACCOs in Obongi district have received varying amounts of funding, with some receiving 70 million shillings, while others have gotten 50 million or 30 million shillings. The beneficiaries include tailors, market vendors, boda boda operators, people with disabilities, journalists, mechanics, carpenters, restaurant owners, salon operators, elected leaders, fishermen, performing artists, taxi operators, youth, women entrepreneurs, welders, and produce dealers.
Hashaka assured SACCO members that they will continue to receive annual funding as long as they utilize the money effectively. The Chairperson of the Obongi Emyooga Tailors SACCO, Mr. Asiadu Crispus, thanked President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM government for fulfilling their promise to develop Obongi district. He also urged the people of Obongi to vote for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers to ensure the continuation of developmental programs in the district.
The Emyooga program, an initiative of the NRM government, aims to promote social and economic transformation by providing financial support to various groups and associations. The program has been hailed as a vital tool in the fight against poverty and has received widespread acclaim for its impact on the lives of Ugandans.
