OBONGI: The Obongi District Women Council Chairperson, Hon Aletiru Scovia alias Mama Museveni, has urged residents to pick their National Identity Cards from the district NIRA office.
Hon Aletiru made the call during a courtesy visit to the new National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) offices in Kenya Cell, Obongi Town Council.
She said she was informed by NIRA staff that a large number of printed IDs are lying uncollected at the office, with only owners expected to pick them.
“I thank the NRM government for giving Ugandans National IDs at no cost. But many of our people have not yet picked them. I will move to all villages to mobilise our people,” she said.
Hon Aletiru said she would embark on village-to-village mobilisation across Obongi to ensure residents collect their cards and those who have never registered do so.
