ALEBTONG, UGANDA– December 23, 2025 – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Alebtong District, Okiswa Geoffrey, has directed the police to launch a comprehensive investigation into the killing of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered on the outskirts of Apur ‘B’ village in Apak Bridge.
A grim discovery of unknown dead body has shaken the Alebtong district as the body of an unidentified 30-year-old woman was recovered near Apak Bridge, located at the Alebtong/Otuke border in Aloi Sub- County.According to the RDC Alebtong, Okiswa Geoffrey, the incident has sparked an urgent investigation, with local leaders on the ground treating the case as a suspected possible murder.
The woman’s lifeless body was found in Apur ‘B’ village, dressed in a T-shirt bearing the inscription “Sweet Girl.” Police officials have transported the remains to Alebtong HC4 mortuary for a postmortem examination and identification. A murder case file, 221/2025, has been opened, signaling the gravity of the situation.
Details surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear, and authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death or how the body was discovered. However, the presence of the distinctive T-shirt has raised hopes that the item may aid in identifying the deceased. RDC Geoffrey has urged the community to come forward with any information that could assist in determining her identity or the circumstances leading to her death.
In a related but separate development, Kidepo National Park game rangers have intensified efforts to track rogue lions in the Adwiri and Awei Sub-Counties. However the Resident District commissioner (RDC), added that while the rangers are actively patrolling the area, the animals responsible for previous attacks remain at large, amplifying fears among nearby communities. This dual crisis—human and environmental—has heightened tensions fear in the area where residents already struggle with limited resources ahead of Christmas celebration.

The postmortem results will provide critical insights. Community members expressed shock and concern, with many calling for increased patrols and surveillance in the border areas.
As the investigation unfolds, Mr. Okiswa ,the RDC Alebtong is appealing to the public for any leads or information regarding the unfortunate death of the woman. The intersection of human violence and wildlife threats underscores the complex challenges faced by rural communities in some border District including Alebtong in northern Uganda, where coexistence with nature often comes at a high cost.
Updates are expected as the postmortem concludes since the police in Alebtong are working hard to do their independent investigation.
