Aloi Town council NRM Chairman arrested over alleged shs14.2m fraud.

ALEBTONG, UGANDA–Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Alebtong, Mr. Mathias Lutwama, has ordered the arrest of the NRM Chairperson for Aloi Town Council, Otiti Sam, over alleged embezzlement of shs14.2 million meant for NRM flag bearers.
According to Mr. Lutwama, on 21st July 2026 at 9:00pm, he received complaints from flag bearers of Aloi Town Council that their facilitation funds had been “overwhelmingly deducted by half.”
The DRDC said he persuaded Mr. Otiti to refund the money, but the suspect allegedly switched off his phone and went into hiding.

Basing on the Presidential directive to fight corruption in Alebtong, Mr. Lutwama ordered for the arrest of the NRM chairperson.
Mr. Otiti was later handed over to Aloi Police Station where a case of theft was registered under SD 13/22/07/2026.
He is accused of theft of shs14.2 million meant for NRM flag bearers in Aloi Town Council.
