
UPC Flag Bearer Aduku Caroline Claims Attempted Assassination in Alebtong, Sustains Serious Injuries.

Alebtong woman MP candidate Caroline Aduku Gloria has survived a suspected assassination attempt, alleging that two unidentified individuals targeted her on a motorcycle as she traveled back to Lira City. The incident, described by Aduku as “politically motivated,” has sparked calls for swift investigations into the attack.

The UPC Alebtong woman MP flag bearer sustained severe injuries to her face, hands, and lower abdomen after the alleged assailants, who were riding a motorcycle, trailed her on a boda boda on the evening of December 27, 2025. Aduku, who required emergency medical treatment, is currently receiving care at a facility in Lira city.
One of her political team members who preffered not to be named in this publication, confirmed that Aduku Caroline Gloria was being trailed by some two boys on a motorcycle but with a bad intention of assassinating her.
In an exclusive interview with TAYARI NEWS UGANDA, Aduku recounted the harrowing event: “I was being trailed by two unknown boys on a motorcycle while returning to Lira. Their actions were deliberate, and they targeted me as I crossed the road. I now fear this was an orchestrated attack intended to eliminate me.” She cited threats from political rivals as a likely motive, though no group has publicly claimed responsibility for the assault.

The MP candidate narrated that the attackers struck her boda boda from behind, forcing her to the ground before fleeing the scene adding that eye witnesses described a chaotic aftermath, with Aduku bleeding profusely as bystanders rushed her to Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
Aduku has been a vocal advocate for women’s rights and has faced intense political competition in her constituency. Her friend and family have condemned the attack, urging authorities to ensure her safety and bring the perpetrators to justice., Aduku’s case has drawn attention to the safety of women in current ongoing campaign. Family members and supporters have gathered at her medical facility bedside, vowing legal action if the authorities fail to apprehend the suspects.

Aduku, still recovering, has vowed to continue her campaign for the MP seat. “This attack will not silence me,” she said. “I will fight for justice and for the right to serve my people.”
