ACODEV Donates Medical Equipment to Best Performing Health Centers in Obongi District.

OBONGI, UGANDA – 12, February, 2026 – Action for Community Development (ACODEV), a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on reproductive health, has concluded its three-year activities in Obongi, Adjumani, and Moyo districts by donating medical equipment worth over 18 million shillings to the best performing health centers.
In Obongi district, the donation was made to Obongi Health Center IV in Obongi Town Council, Palorinya Health Center III in Palorinya sub-county, and Idiwa Health Center in Itula sub-county. The equipment was handed over to the Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Obongi, who then transferred them to the District Health Office (DHO) for distribution to the respective health centers.
The RDC of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, accompanied by the Assistant RDCs, Umuhoza Habiba Furaha and Komakech Robert, oversaw the handover ceremony. The equipment was received by the Assistant District Health Officer (ADHO) in charge of maternal health, Sunday Dragule, and the Assistant Inventory Management Officer, Obongi, Mr. Mawa Bernard.
Representing ACODEV, the Finance and Administrative Manager, Mr. Guma Richard, along with Irene Letio Tobias and Isaac Semanda, expressed gratitude to the political leaders and technical staff of Obongi for their cooperation during the three-year implementation of reproductive health programs in the district. Mr. Guma revealed that the three health centers that received the donations were identified as the best performing during the project’s implementation period, while Aliba Health Center was among the worst performing and thus did not receive any funding for medical equipment.
The donated equipment was procured based on the specific requests of each health center, and ACODEV took the responsibility of transporting the items to their respective destinations. This gesture is seen as a significant boost to the healthcare services in the region, enhancing the capacity of the health centers to provide quality care to the community.
The conclusion of ACODEV’s three-year project in Obongi, Adjumani, and Moyo marks a significant milestone in the organization’s efforts to improve reproductive health in the region. The donation of medical equipment to the best performing health centers is a testament to the organization’s commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives in Uganda.
