Obongi Boda Boda SACCO celebrates purchase of new motorcycle with Profits from Government Emyooga Funds.

OBONGI, UGANDA — The Obongi constituency Emyooga boda boda SACCO has successfully purchased a new motorcycle using profits generated from its initial government capital injection, marking a significant milestone for the local transport group.
The new motorcycle, valued at six million shillings, was acquired using returns from a 20 million shilling grant provided to the SACCO last year by the government through the Micro Finance Support Center Ltd.
According to SACCO officials, the initial capital was used to purchase three Boxer motorcycles. Through efficient management and the income generated from these bikes, the group was able to accumulate enough profit to buy an additional unit, expanding their fleet and operational capacity.
The handover ceremony took place on February 12, 2026, at the Office of the President in Obongi.

While handing over the new motorcycle to the SACCO leaders, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, commended the group for their prudent management of the funds.
“I thank the boda boda SACCO for efficiently running the SACCO and making a profit,” Hashaka said, highlighting the importance of sustainability in government-funded programs.
Mr. Jimmy Dratia Kagwa, the Chairperson of the Obongi constituency boda boda Emyooga SACCO, expressed gratitude to the central government for the initiative.
“I thank President Yoweri Museveni for introducing the Emyooga system and funding those in the informal sector,” Kagwa said. He noted that the program has been instrumental in leading to an improvement in the lives of Ugandans within the constituency.
The event was also attended by Assistant RDC Umuhoza Habiba Furaha and Assistant RDC Komakech Robert, who both lauded the SACCO’s commitment to the Emyooga vision.
