Dokolo, Uganda – February 12, 2026: Police in Dokolo District are investigating a shocking abduction case that unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, February 11, 2026, after a 28-year-old woman was snatched from her home in Agai Ward, Kangai Town Council, and later found bound and unconscious in a nearby forest.
The incident was reported to Kangai Town Council Police Station by Oyo Robert, 28, who stated that his wife, Muwandu Peace—a housewife and prayer intercessor—had left their bedroom around 4:00 AM to use an outdoor latrine but failed to return.
“I waited for over an hour and grew suspicious,” Oyo told police. “I went outside and found her slippers and a blouse scattered within the compound. I searched the house, the toilet, the bathroom, and even asked neighbors, but no one had seen her. That’s when I rushed to report the case.”
Security forces launched immediate search efforts. Later that morning at approximately 9:30 AM, a passerby discovered the victim in a thickly wooded area in Alit Cell, Angai Ward. She was found unconscious, with her hands, legs, and mouth tightly bound using nylon ropes and a black kavera (a traditional cloth commonly used as a wrapper).
Community members swiftly alerted the police, who responded promptly. The victim was rescued and rushed to Kangai Health Centre III for urgent medical attention. A Police Form 3 was issued to facilitate a comprehensive medical examination.
In a swift investigative operation, the Dokolo District Criminal Investigation Department (CID), supported by Scene of Crime Officers led by Deputy Assistant Inspector of Police (D/AIP) Obura Stephen, visited and documented the scene. A K9 unit was deployed, and the tracking dog led officers to the residence of one of the suspects, significantly advancing the probe.
Two suspects have since been arrested and are currently in police custody. They have been identified as:
Atim Morris Ocen, 58, Manager of Alit Natural Forest Reserve
Odur Joel, 39, a peasant farmer
Both are residents of Kangai Town Council, Dokolo District.
Authorities have recovered key evidence linking the suspects to the crime, including the nylon ropes and black kavera used to restrain the victim. The items have been properly documented and secured for forensic analysis.
The case has been formally registered at Kangai Town Council Police Station under the charge of abduction. Statements from the victim—once medically stable—her husband, and other relevant witnesses have been recorded.
In a statement released today, Public Relations Officer for North Kyoga Region, SP PJ Okema, urged community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
“We appeal to the public to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing any information that may aid the ongoing investigation,” SP Okema said. “The swift response and community assistance were instrumental in rescuing the victim and apprehending the suspects.”
The suspect’s motives remain under investigation, though police have not ruled out possible personal or criminal intentions. The victim remains under medical care, and her condition is reported to be improving.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with local leaders calling for increased security patrols and community policing initiatives in Kangai Town Council.
An investigations continue, police have assured the public that justice will be pursued diligently
