TORORO – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong, Geoffrey Okiswa, on Friday 10th April, 2026 hosted the Bishop of Bukedi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel George Bogere Egesa, at his ancestral home in Tororo following a massive confirmation ceremony in the area.
Bishop Egesa was in Atiri-Kamalalu, Tororo, on a pastoral visit where he confirmed hundreds of young people into the Church of Uganda (CoU) communion. An excited Okiswa described hosting the man of God at his home as a “privilege and honor.”

While adressing the congregation, he emphasised on the issue of poverty eradication by utilizing the various government programs such as PDM, Emyoga, YLP among others.
RDC Okiswa warned that anyone who will be found mismanaging PDM money should prepare to go to prison for one year as directed by H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
During the confirmation service, the prelate, quoting Ecclesiastes 5:4, cautioned the congregation against delaying their spiritual commitments.
“Honor your promises to follow Jesus quickly, or else you become foolish,” the Bishop urged the hundreds of faithful who turned up for the event.

Speaking after a luncheon held for the clergy, Okiswa expressed his deep gratitude for the spiritual visit, noting its significance to both his family and the wider Tororo community.

In a show of community leadership, Mr. Okiswa spearheaded a fundraising drive to support the house of God. He encouraged the faithful to remain united and take collective responsibility for the church’s development.
“As leaders and believers, we must ensure that the house of the Lord is completed to provide a dignified place of worship for our community,” Bishop stated during his address.
The Rt.Rev. Bishop encouraged the people of Tororo to take their children to school and uplift the standard of education in their area.
The effort successfully raised 60 iron sheets, covering half of the 120 required to complete the church’s roofing.
