KAMPALA – The Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon. Kyofatogabye Kabuye, has issued a rallying call to all Ugandans to converge at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on May 12, 2026, to witness the swearing-in of President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
In a statement released ahead of the historic ceremony, Kabuye emphasized that the inauguration is not merely a political ritual but a national commitment to “protecting the gains” and securing the country’s future.
Securing the Middle-Income Leap
Hon. Kabuye noted that the upcoming presidential term (2026–2031) is a critical window for Uganda to achieve a qualitative leap into middle-income status. He described the victory as a mandate to strengthen national progress and consolidate the socio-economic transformations achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership.
“This is a moment for all Ugandans to unite and march forward together. We are at a stage where our national progress is visible, and the leap into a prosperous middle-income status is within our grasp,” Kabuye stated.

The Minister urged citizens from all walks of life—including the youth, the business community, and political leaders—to turn up in large numbers to show a united front. He added that the massive turnout would signal to the world Uganda’s readiness for a stronger, self-sustaining economy.
“Let us celebrate our democratic journey. As we gather at Kololo, we are reaffirming our shared destiny for a stronger and more prosperous Uganda,” he added.

The May 12th, 2026 swearing- in ceremony is expected to draw several heads of state, foreign dignitaries, and thousands of Ugandans from across the country. All roads leads to Kololo ceremonial ground come 12th May 2026; as several diginitaries are expected in the Swearing- in ceremony of H.E the president of the Republic of Uganda.
