BUSHENYI – On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the corridors of the August House will witness the return of a woman whose political brand is as much about prayer as it is about the NRM manifesto. Hon. Annet Katusiime Mugisha is set to take the oath of office, marking her second stint as the Bushenyi District Woman MP in the 12th Parliament.
For the people of Bushenyi, this isn’t just a procedural swearing-in; it is the cementing of a leadership style that has balanced high-level lobbying with grassroots “mothering.”
True to her political colors, Mugisha enters the new term clutching the NRM’s holy trinity of unity, progress, and sustainable development. Her re-election was a clear signal that her constituents are satisfied with the yellow script, provided it continues to deliver on the bread-and-butter issues that define rural and urban Bushenyi alike.
In her blueprint for the next five years, Mugisha has doubled down on her “empowerment” agenda. She is promising a more aggressive push for youth and women’s inclusion in the money economy, alongside a persistent demand for better healthcare and road networks.
“Peace and security are not just government slogans; they are the foundation of every family in our community,” Mugisha noted ahead of the ceremony.
But beyond the policy papers, it is her spiritual leanings that have often endeared her to the electorate. As she prepares to hold the Bible for the second time as a legislator, she has leaned on her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
