15 Year-old-boy strikes Father to death over Phone in Oyam District

Police in Oyam District are investigating a fatal assault that occurred on April 29, 2026, in Zaire Village. The victim, Okeng Simon, a 49-year-old peasant farmer, was allegedly attacked by his 15-year-old son, Oyet Ambrose, following a dispute over a mobile phone potentially linked to a government cattle restocking disbursement. Witnesses reported that the altercation escalated when the father demanded the phone, leading to the son striking him with a wooden object. Despite efforts by the victim’s wife to seek medical assistance, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the health center. The suspect has been detained and a murder case has been initiated, with investigations ongoing and additional details forthcoming according to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the police spokesperson for North Kyoga region.
