YUMBE, UGANDA – The Minister of State for Defence in charge of Veteran Affairs, Hon. Oleru Huda Abason, is finalized to take her oath of office for the 12th Parliament on Wednesday, 13th May 2026.
According to the official parliamentary schedule, the Yumbe District Woman MP-elect will be sworn in during the afternoon session starting at 1:30 PM. The ceremony marks a significant milestone for the veteran legislator, who has become a household name for her aggressive push toward the NRM’s “Steady Progress” agenda.

Hon. Oleru’s return to the House is anchored on the powerful theme: “Protecting the Gains as we make a Qualitative Leap into Middle-Income Status.” This vision reflects her track record of safeguarding government achievements while driving new frontiers for regional and national development.

Known for her unwavering stance on wealth creation and socio-economic transformation, Hon. Oleru has been at the forefront of moving Ugandans, particularly veterans and women in the West Nile region, into the money economy. Strict Swearing-In Protocol
In line with the official guidelines issued by the Clerk to Parliament, Hon. Oleru will be accompanied by a maximum of three guests. She will take the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Member of Parliament, officially authorizing her to represent Yumbe for the 2026–2031 term.
