KAMPALA — The Minister of State for Economic Monitoring and Agago District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Beatrice Akello Akori, has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to the newly elected Speaker of the 12th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob Maxwell Oboth-Oboth, and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, following their resounding speakership victories.

The high-stakes election took place on Monday during the historic first sitting of the 12th Parliament at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, held under the direct oversight of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“I congratulate you upon your victory,” Hon. Akori stated in her official message while adressing the media in an exclusive interview in Kampala. “Wishing you both success ahead of your work as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th Parliament. May God bless you as you steer the house.”

Reflecting on the tense atmosphere inside the parliamentary chambers before the final secret ballots were cast, Minister Akori described a powerful, quiet moment of spirituality that captured the hearts of many lawmakers who voted in great numbers for the NRM flag bearers.
Hon. Beatrice Akori noted that this landslide victory channeled joy, courage, confidence, and divine favor into what would become a historic joint victory by the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker respectively.

“The victory of Rt. Hon. Oboth-Oboth and Rt. Hon. Tayebwa marks the beginning of a new leadership journey for Uganda’s 12 Parliament,” Akori observed. “It will always be remembered for the profound humanity and spirituality that surrounded it. Hon Akori’ message reflected the values of unity, humility, and hope that many Ugandans long to see in public leadership.”
A Pattern of Good Leadership:
As the final results were announced and Thomas Tayebwa successfully secured his return to the office of the Deputy Speaker, the chambers erupted into celebratory moment as the MPs embraced it, bringing relief to an exercise that had been tense with political uncertainty.
According to Minister Akori, the spirit of unity by the 12th parliament observed during the session serves as a memorable reminder that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, alongside the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) led by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, have established a solid, reliable pattern of visionary leadership for the nation.
Having proudly cast her own vote at Kololo, Hon. Akori expressed absolute confidence that the newly elected speakers possess the administrative good attitude and faith needed to steer the legislative arm toward Uganda’s structural transformation and middle-income goals.
