Pader LCV Chairperson Hon Alfred Akena has promised swift intervention after pensioners raised alarm over delayed gratuity and pension payments that have dragged on for over a year.
Akena convened a special meeting with pensioners on Tuesday at the Pader District Headquarters to address long-standing frustrations over the new pension system.
“We Have Suffered Enough”
Pensioners told the meeting they are battling missing payments, underpayments, excessive deductions, and mismatches in personal records caused by the transition from the old system to the new one.
Many said they have gone for over 12 months without receiving their pension or gratuity. Others reported getting far less than they expected. Estate-related issues and delays for newly retired staff were also flagged.
“Since the new system came, some of us who were on the old system have not been paid. We are suffering,” one pensioner said.

as attended by officials from the Chief Administrative Officer’s office, the Resident District Commissioner, the Chief Finance Officer, the Principal Personnel Office, and other technical heads.
Pensioners commended Akena for calling the meeting and tasked him to urgently follow up with relevant authorities to end the delays.

In his remarks, Chairperson Akena pledged to work closely with central government and line ministries to find lasting solutions.
“I thank you for your patience and resilience despite the challenges. We are committed to improving service delivery so that you get the benefits you deserve,” Akena said.
He urged pensioners to complete and submit all required documents to avoid further complications in processing their payments.
Commitment to Fix System
The meeting highlighted the district leadership’s commitment to resolving pension-related concerns and restoring confidence in the system.
District officials said they will set up a desk to handle pension queries and track cases one by one until they are resolved.
