New minister takes over key docket as region pushes for skilling , wealth creation and re-stocking.

Entebbe, Uganda | June 8, 2026.
Hon. Beatrice Akello Akori was on Monday, June 8, 2026, sworn-in as the new Minister for Northern Uganda at State House Entebbe, taking charge of a new duty.
Hon Minister Akori took the oath before H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni alongside other newly appointed ministers for the 2026–2031 term. The ministers have been tasked with fast-tracking the implementation of the NRM manifesto, socio-economic transformation among others.
“I congratulate all the newly appointed ministers for the 2026–2031 term. We pledge to work together in ensuring the effective implementation of the NRM manifesto and the programs under the visionary leadership of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the continued socio-economic transformation and wealth creation”Said Minister Akori. I also thank the people of Agago for trusting me again as their leader for the term 2026- 2031,” Added Akori.

She congratulated H.E the president for appointing her as the minisater of state for Northern Uganda.
The Minister for Northern Uganda coordinates post-conflict recovery, resettlement, and development programmes across the Acholi, West Nile ans Lango sub regions — a region still grappling with the recovery of the two-decade LRA insurgency.
Key possible expected issues on Hon Akori’s desk include restocking, youth skilling, and the Parish Development Model (PDM) implementation among others.

Expectations High
Development analysts say the minister’s swearing in is a stepping stone for NRM and PLU fruitful achievements si cw she will always be available in Northern Uganda and Agago district at all times.
Local leaders in the region have also called for stronger coordination between the ministry, Operation Wealth Creation, and district local governments to eliminate duplication and speed up service delivery.
Akori’s appointment comes as government rolls out industrial hubs and PDM to tge wanahinchi.
The new ministers are expected to steer government policy and service delivery in line with the NRM’s priorities for the next five years.
