Minister Akori salutes sacrifices of national heroes, hails region’s resilience

BY HON BEATRICE AKELLO AKORI
Minister of State for Northern Uganda and,
Woman Member of Parliament, Agago District.

As Uganda commemorates Heroes Day, I extend warm greetings to the people of Agago District and all Ugandans.
Today, 9th June, 2026, we pay tribute to the men and women whose extraordinary sacrifices secured our nation’s freedom, strengthened peace, and laid the foundation for Uganda’s development and progress. Their courage, patriotism, and selfless service continue to inspire us to work together for a stronger and more prosperous nation.
On this special day, I also wish to recognize and celebrate the people of Northern Uganda. Every youth, woman, farmer, trader, teacher, health worker, entrepreneur, and community leader who contributes to the growth and transformation of Acholi, Lango, and West Nile sub-regions is a hero in their own right.
Your hard work, resilience, innovation, and commitment to community development have played a vital role in making Northern Uganda a vibrant and progressive place to live, work, and invest in. We also remember the NRM Government for its remarkable achievements in the wealth creation agenda and the socio-economic transformation of Uganda.
As we honour our national heroes, let us remain united in our shared responsibility to build a better future for generations to come in Northern Uganda and the country as a whole.
I congratulate all those who have made remarkable contributions to Uganda’s peace, stability, and development. I encourage every resident of Agago District and Northern Uganda, especially in Acholi, Lango, and West Nile, to continue playing their part in advancing our region’s growth and prosperity.
Together, we shall achieve even greater milestones.
Happy Heroes Day !!!
FROM MINISTER OF STATE FOR NORTHERN UGANDA,
HON BEATRICE AKELLO AKORI
