Alebtong Resident District Commissioner (RDC)Geoffrey Okiswa, has comended the Permanent Secretary, Office of the President, Haji Yunus Kakande, for what he described as “vibrant guidance” to Resident District Commissioners on their work amid speculation over looming reshuffles.
“We’re @ work… and in charge,” Okiswa said in a statement issued yesterday.
He noted that PS Kakande’s motivational guidance resonates with earlier assurance from the Head of RDCs Secretariat, Maj. Martha Asiimwe, delivered during a meeting in Lira. Maj. Asiimwe had urged RDCs not to be preoccupied with the “reshuffle syndrome” but to concentrate on work under the principle of “No Sleep”
According to Okiswa, anxiety and speculation over possible transfers had reached high levels and were beginning to affect effective service delivery, as well as the morale and wellbeing of some RDCs.
“The message is clear. We must refocus and deliver for the people,” he said.
In an exclusive interview with some RDCs, DRDCs, ARDCs and potential RDCs who wanted their name witheld from this publication, they stated that they were receiving anonymous phone calls meant to solicit money from them for favors during possible upcoming appointment and re-deployment.
