RDC Hashaka launches Shs1.5b GROW project fund for women in West Nile.

KOBOKO – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Koboko, Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, has launched and handed over a cheque of Shs1.5 billion to Koboko United SACCO Ltd under the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) project.
GROW is a Government of Uganda project funded by the World Bank and the Government of Uganda.
Mr Hashaka handed over the cheque at Boma Grounds in Yumbe District where he represented the Minister of State for Cooperatives, Hon. Alero Tom Aza.
Mr Hashaka said Koboko United SACCO Ltd is one of the 14 selected financial institutions and SACCOs in Uganda giving loans to women under GROW.
He said the funds will be disbursed to all districts in the West Nile sub-region.



Mr Hashaka congratulated Koboko United SACCO Ltd for being the only SACCO selected in West Nile and challenged its leadership to exhibit transparency and proper accountability in the use of the funds.
The Koboko United SACCO Ltd was founded by
the Koboko women association.
The Chairperson Koboko women association and founder of the Koboko United SACCO who is also the headteacher Apa Primary School Ms. Dudu Mary appealed to women entrepreneurs to apply for funds under GROW at an interest of only 10%per year which is less than 1% per month.
The West Nile regional launch of GROW project funds disbursement was witnessed by RDCs, DRDCs, ARDCs, district Chairpersons, CAOs, officials of the private sector fund and Women entrepreneurs from all districts of west Nile.
