OYAM, UGANDA-June 20, 2026: NRM National Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda Hon. Denis Hamson Obua has handed over Shs10m from President Yoweri Museveni to the family of the late Mzee Abdalla Anyuru.
Obua represented H.E. the President at the burial of Sam Bua Anyuru in Aber Sub-county, Oyam District on Saturday, 20th, June 2026.
“On behalf of Government, NRM and myself, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Mzee Abdalla Anyuru,” Museveni said.
Museveni recalled that Mzee Anyuru, former Public Service Commission chairperson, recruited him into government service after university.
Mzee Anyuru was killed during Idi Amin’s regime. Museveni said such extrajudicial killings led to the “decay of the nascent civil service, army, business class” and that the family’s sacrifice must be remembered.

Sam Bua Anyuru, son of Mzee Abdalla Anyuru, died in France and has been buried at the family’s ancestral home.
