Kampala ,Uganda-June 25, 2026: President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo as Acting Minister of Education and Sports.
Immediate effect:
According to a State House press release issued Thursday by the Presidential Press Unit [PPU], the appointment was made under Article 99(1) of the Constitution “in the absence of a substantive Minister.”
“The appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement reads.
Muyingo is the current State Minister for Higher Education and MP for Bamunanika County, Luweero District.
He takes over the docket following the exit of former First Lady and Education Minister Janet Kataaha Museveni, who was recently appointed Vice President.
President Museveni has appointed State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo as Acting Minister of Education and Sports. State House says the appointment is effective immediately. Muyingo replaces Janet Museveni, who was recently named Vice President.
