LIRA CITY, UGANDA— St. Gracious Secondary Schools has sworn-in 120 prefects for the 2026/2027 academic year at a joint swearing-in ceremony for its main Campus SAGRASS and Leo Atubo Campus held at the main campus in Boke Adag-Ayela, Lira City West Division, Lira City, on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The ceremony which was presided over by the Commissioner of oaths, Dr. Adam Makmot Kibwanga of Makmot Kibwanga and Company advocates, brought together incoming and outgoing prefects from both campuses, including head prefects, deputy HPs, chief justices, Uganda National Students’ Association [UNSA] , speakers, general secretaries and timekeepers among others.

‘Serve as our ears and eyes’
One of the School administrators Mrs. Eva Olet urged the newly sworn-in prefectorial body to put God first in their leadership.

“Serve God because when you put God first you will not fail,” Mrs Eva Olet said. “Some of us were leaders while schooling. If you are a prefect in St. Gracious Schools you are supposed to be our ears and eyes. From today you are our ears and eyes.”

She challenged the prefects to be the best team of leaders the school has ever had.

The Principal of St. Gracious S.S ( SAGRASS ), Ojok Martin Anyuru, asked the student leaders to take the mantle of leadership seriously.
“As St. Gracious S.S, we believe that leaders come and leaders go,” Anyuru said as he commended the outgoing prefect body for the satisfactory work done during their tenure.

Commissioner for Oaths, Counsel Dr. Adam Makmot Kibwanga, administered the oaths under the Oaths Act, Cap. 21, Laws of Uganda highlighting that “Young people are the leaders of the future,”.Dr Makmot Kibwanga said “The oath is very important because you subject yourself to the law.”
The ceremony was conducted in a jolly mood, with both incoming and outgoing prefects from St. Gracious Sec. Sch. main Campus and St. Gracious SS Leo Atubo Campus in attendance.

Mrs Eve Olet urged them to put God first and serve as the school’s ‘ears and eyes’. Principal Ojok Martin Anyuru Dr.Patrick Olet witnessed the colourful ceremony that was administered by Counsel Dr. Makmot Kibwanga as required in the Oaths Act, Cap. 21.
