Agago District has been included in Shs50bn emergency food relief programme.

KAMPALA, UGANDA-Agago District has been included in the Government’s Shs50 billion emergency food relief programme following a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister.
The meeting was chaired by Vice President Jessica Alupo and attended by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Cabinet Ministers, government officials, and development partners. Discussions focused on urgent interventions to address food insecurity affecting Karamoja and neighbouring districts.
Woman MP for Agago District, Hon. Beatrice Akori, welcomed the intervention, saying the inclusion of Agago will provide timely relief to vulnerable households affected by the prolonged dry spell.
Cabinet recently approved Shs50 billion to procure emergency food supplies for vulnerable communities in Karamoja, Agago, Kitgum, Kapelebyong, Otuke, Katakwi, and other affected districts. Development partners were also urged to complement the Government’s response with additional humanitarian support.
Hon. Akori reaffirmed her commitment to continue advocating for the welfare of the people of Agago and ensuring their concerns remain a priority at the national level.
The relief targets vulnerable households in Karamoja, Agago, Kitgum, Kapelebyong, Otuke, Katakwi and other districts affected by the prolonged dry spell.
According to Hon. Minister Akori,
“This intervention will bring timely relief to our people. I remain committed to ensuring Agago’s voice is heard and our people’s welfare remains a national priority.”
