Lira City RCC Egole Busts Illicit Alcohol Factory, Seizes Hundreds of Litres of Dangerous Ethanol Chemical

LIRA CITY – Lira City Resident City Commissioner, Mr. Emmy Lawrence Egole, on Friday night led an operation that uncovered hundreds of litres of a dangerous chemical substance that is reportedly mixed with water and sold on the market as alcohol.
According to Egole, the substance could be directly responsible for several cases of death and mental illness among the youth in the city.
“The operation has just been concluded. We have managed to smoke out hundreds of litres of dangerous substance which is normally mixed with water and supplied to the market for consumption in form of alcohol,” Egole said.
He added that the main supplier and one other suspect have been arrested and are currently in custody as investigations continue.
The RCC warned bar operators and consumers to be vigilant and vowed to continue the crackdown on illicit alcohol in Lira City.
