RDC Okiswa, DRDC Lutwama and ARDC Ongom, Counsel Residents in Alanyi to Accept LC2 Poll Results.

ALEBTONG – The Resident District Commissioner of Alebtong, Mr. Geoffrey Okiswa, together with his Deputy Mathias Lutwama and Assistant RDC Ongom Lamex, on Friday, August 28, 2026, calmed a disgruntled community of Alanyi Parish in Abako Sub-county that had resisted handing over office following the LC2 elections.
The residents, who support losing candidate Ogwang Samuel, had staged a peaceful demonstration at the RDC’s office, refusing to hand over to newly elected LC2 Chairperson Onyango Richard.

Instead of petitioning the Electoral Commission as provided by law, the group attempted to block the handover, prompting the RDC’s office to intervene.
According to Okiswa, his office guided the community to embrace democratic principles and accept that elections may not be perfect but are free and fair.
“Elections are always free and fair, not perfect. We counselled them to accept the results and move on,” Okiswa said.
He advised the residents to hand over office peacefully and channel their efforts into government programmes aimed at socio-economic transformation.
The meeting ended with an agreement to respect the election outcome and allow the new leadership to take charge.
