AKUORO-OLUPE – Residents of Teso and beyond are set to converge on Akuoro-Olupe Primary School on October 9, 2026, for the inaugural Green Kyere Run 2026, an event that seeks to blend fitness with environmental activism.
The run, which will start at 7:30 a.m., is being organised under the theme: “Run Green | Build Community | Protect Our Future.”
According to organisers, participants will pay a registration fee of Shs25,000, which will cater for an official Green Kyere vest. At least five early participants have already registered for the event.
Organisers say the run is more than a race, but a movement aimed at fostering community unity while advocating for climate action and sustainability.

Beyond physical fitness, the event seeks to raise awareness on climate change and its effects on local communities and to inspire collective action towards environmental protection.
The organisers have called upon local businesses and organisations to support the initiative through sponsorship or by showcasing their commitment to environmental stewardship.
Details regarding the route map, safety protocols and post-run activities will be communicated through official channels, according to organisers.
