Govt Injects Shs1.6bn into Kochi SSS Infrastructure Development.

KOBOKO – The government of Uganda has allocated over Shs1.6 billion for infrastructure development at Kochi Senior Secondary School in Midia Sub-county, Koboko District.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the project was presided over by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Koboko, Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka.
The project, funded under the Uganda Secondary Education Expansion Project (USEEP) under the DRDIP programme, will include the construction of eight classrooms, a fully equipped science laboratory, and 45 stances of VIP latrines for both boys and girls.
Kochi Senior Secondary School, which is now government-aided, was started as a community school by the late former Woman MP for Koboko, Hon. Margaret Baba Diri.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hashaka cautioned the contractor, M/s TI-DAN Investments Ltd of Yumbe, against shoddy work.
He directed that the Bills of Quantities (BOQs), building plans and work plan must be available at the site before works commence on Monday.
“The school administration, wanainchi and local leaders must monitor this project on a daily basis to ensure quality work is delivered,” he said.
The RDC thanked H.E President Rtd. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM government for promoting and supporting education in Koboko.
Present at the function were Assistant RDC Koboko, Mr. Baguma K. Rashid, the District Chairperson LCV, Hon. Mambu Ashraf, the District Secretary for Production, school administrators, Board members and other district operatives.
The Head Teacher of Kochi SSS, Mr. Dada Daudi, thanked government for the intervention, saying it will go a long way in improving education standards at the school, which has an enrollment of over 1,000 students.
