South Sudan Parliament Speaker Arrives in Uganda for One-Week Visit.

KOBOKO – The Speaker of the National Parliament of South Sudan, Rt. Hon Joseph Ngere Paciko, has arrived in Uganda for a one-week official visit.
The Speaker, who arrived by air via Entebbe International Airport to Arua Airfield, travelled by road to Koboko District.
He was received at the Koboko District Headquarters by district leaders led by the District Chairperson, Mr. Mambu Asirafu and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka.
Addressing the leaders, the Speaker thanked President Yoweri Museveni for his pivotal role in reviving and strengthening East African integration and for championing the expansion of the East African Community (EAC), which paved the way for South Sudan to join the bloc.
He said South Sudan will always cherish the EAC integration, noting that it is accelerating regional development through enhanced trade among member states.
“Ugandans and South Sudanese share a lot in common due to intermarriages and common languages such as Madi, Acholi and Kuku which are widely spoken in both countries,” he said.
The Speaker further disclosed that South Sudan is ready for general elections scheduled for December this year.
In response, RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka and Chairperson Mambu Asirafu warmly welcomed the Speaker to Koboko, thanking him for honouring the district with a visit.
Among those present were Deputy RDC Koboko, Hajji Marijani Walire and Assistant RDCs, Mr. Aloro Habib and Mr. Baguma Rashid.
The two leaders agreed to hold monthly joint security meetings to address cross-border insecurity.
