Obongi District Receives Shs 3.7 Billion Boost for Development and Services.
OBONGI, UGANDA – November 21, 2025 – Obongi district is set to experience a significant boost in its development and service delivery capabilities following the release of over 3.7 billion shillings from the central government. The substantial allocation, amounting to Shs 3,763,978,194/=, represents the second quarter release for the financial year 2025/2026.
The good news was announced by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, during a recent appearance on the “Government Hour” program on Aulogo FM. Hashaka elaborated that these crucial funds from the central government are earmarked for various essential expenditures, including wages, non-wage recurrent costs, pensions, gratuity payments, and development projects.

Citing a letter from the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Obongi, Otim Benson Humphrey, RDC Hashaka confirmed the significant financial injection. According to the CAO’s communication, the central government has cumulatively released 50% of Obongi district’s budget for wage, pension, gratuity, and primary health care recurrent funds. Furthermore, development grants have seen a considerable release of 66.7%.
The CAO’s directive, as read by the RDC, urged all vote controllers, heads of departments, the town clerk, senior CAOs, and health in-charges to formally acknowledge the receipt of these funds within their respective departments and accounts. They have also been instructed to share their second-quarter resource priorities with their line budget desks. This vital step will inform subsequent allocations, warranting, and the crucial expenditure processes for the current quarter.

Speaking on the broader theme of “securing the future as we protect the gains” made by the ruling NRM government in Obongi, RDC Hashaka emphasized the paramount importance of transparency and accountability in the management of these funds. He called upon all stakeholders to actively participate in ensuring that the government’s financial contributions are utilized for their intended purposes and contribute to the district’s progress.
Hashaka expressed optimism about Obongi’s trajectory, stating that the district is experiencing rapid growth, partly due to the government’s consistent fulfillment of its obligations. The RDC took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the area Member of Parliament for Obongi, Hon. Dr. Bhoka George Didi, for his diligent efforts in advocating for and securing these appropriations for Obongi district, thereby ensuring the region receives its fair share of national resources.
