ARUA CITY, UGANDA – November 29, 2025 – Muni University celebrated its 8th graduation ceremony today, honoring a total of 481 students who successfully completed their studies. The highlight of the event, held at the university’s main campus in Arua City, was the recognition of Rwothumio Charles, a former student of St. Gracious Secondary School in Lira City, as the overall best graduating student.
Rwothumio Charles, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, was announced by the Vice Chancellor as the top performer, achieving a First-Class degree, a testament to his exceptional academic dedication.

The graduating class comprised 322 male and 159 female students from various academic disciplines, marking another significant milestone for the West Nile-based public university.
The ceremony was graced by Hon. Evelyn Anite, the State Minister for Investment, who represented His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, delivered the President’s message, congratulating the graduates and commending the university’s administration for its sustained growth and contribution to national development.

In his address, Professor Simon Anguma Katrini, the Vice Chancellor of Muni University, emphasized the institution’s impressive expansion since its inception. “Each year the University is growing from strength to strength,” Professor Anguma stated. He recounted the university’s humble beginnings in 2014 with just 87 students and a single faculty. Today, Muni University boasts an enrollment of 3,143 students across six faculties and 34 academic programs. Looking ahead, Professor Anguma unveiled ambitious plans to introduce four more faculties and a total of 90 academic programs within the next five years.

Providing a historical context to the university’s increasing impact, the Vice Chancellor noted, “Our inaugural graduation ceremony was held in 2017, with only 77 graduates. In 2018 we graduated 97, while in 2019 we had 107. In 2020, we graduated 103, and the numbers kept increasing until 2024 when we graduated a total of 317 students.”
Muni University continues to cement its role in producing skilled professionals critical for national development, particularly within the West Nile region, by expanding its training capacity in vital fields such as health sciences, information technology, education, and applied sciences.
Muni University is a public university in Uganda, located in Arua City. Established in 2014, it aims to provide quality education and research, focusing on science, technology, and innovation to support sustainable development in Uganda and beyond.The good news is that Charles can even become a lecturer at Muni University in the future.
