KITGUM, UGANDA – December 4, 2025 – In a significant move towards fostering unity and resolving long-standing differences, prominent Acholi leaders successfully brokered a reconciliation between Hon. Minister Aber Lillian and Presidential Advisor Hon. Bosmic Joyce Otim. The pivotal meeting, held on November 27, 2025, at Acaki Lodge in Kitgum Municipality, brought together influential figures to address the rifts between the two political personalities.
The reconciliation was spearheaded by a formidable group of dignitaries, including Monsignor Komakech Christopher, former Aruu County Member of Parliament Hon.Dr. Odonga Samuel Otto,Kilak South MP Hon. MP Olanya Gilbert, Pader Town Council Mayor Hon. Kilama Fearless Wod-Acholi, and Emmanuel Lapyem, the NRM chairperson for Kitgum District. This initiative underscores the deep-seated Acholi cultural value that places paramount importance on reconciliation, aiming to prevent grudges from festering among its children.

Mayor Kilama emphasized the practical benefits of such a reconciliation, stating that it “cements investigation and makes it easier.” He added that in the unfortunate event of an abrupt death, the “blame game is not all that too much” if prior differences have been resolved, highlighting the foresight in resolving disputes.
MP Olanya Gilbert shed light on Minister Aber Lillian’s standing as “a young growing leader and more so the daughter of the land.” He stressed the collective responsibility of the region’s men to “protect their daughter,” expressing gratitude to both Bosmic and Lillian for agreeing to “work together as children of the soil.”

Dr. Odonga Otto Samuel drew a poignant analogy, likening Bosmic and Lillian to “twin born,” emphasizing the critical need for unity in the current political landscape. He positioned Aber as “the bridge between Acholi and the government” and urged both leaders to mobilize votes for H.E. the President, advocating for internal reconciliation “amongst ourselves before others come in.”
Monsignor Komakech Christopher delivered a powerful message on unity, warning that if the community is not united, “then outsiders destroy us.” He advised those in government offices to “not forget where we came from” and called for stronger relationships among Acholi leaders and scholars. The Monsignor urged leaders to focus on shared goals rather than “pointing fingers,” and to prioritize the interest of their native land before broader national interests, while also encouraging cooperation with the government.
The gathering culminated in a clear endorsement, with Hon. Olanya Gilbert, Dr. Odonga Otto, Hon. Bosmic Otim, and Mayor Kilama Fearless collectively urging the people of Kitgum District to vote for Hon. Minister Aber Lillian, promising “better service delivery” as a direct result of the newfound unity and collaborative spirit.
