KWANIA, UGANDA – December 8, 2025 : The National Resistance Movement (NRM) intensified its campaign preparations in Kwania District as top party officials converged to mobilize support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and NRM flag bearers ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Dr. Akello Alice, the Commissioner in charge of RDCs in the Northern Region, led a high-level delegation of NRM leadership in a spirited mobilization program held in Kwania town. She was accompanied by Retired Major Polar Awich, Director in charge of Foreign Affairs at the NRM Secretariat, both of whom delivered strong messages of unity and discipline.

In her address, Dr. Akello Alice called on NRM members to remain united in purpose and focused on supporting the party’s agenda. “This is not a time for division,” she emphasized. “We must all rally behind His Excellency the President and our party candidates. Only through unity can we achieve victory in 2026.”
Retired Major Polar Awich echoed the call for loyalty, issuing a strong warning to party members. “Any NRM leader found supporting opposition or independent candidates will be dismissed from the party without hesitation,” he declared. His remarks drew loud applause from attendees and underscored the party’s determination to maintain internal cohesion.

He also urged party faithful to rise above tribal and personal interests. “We are stronger together,” he said. “The political season is upon us, and we must stand as one for a common goal—victory for NRM flag bearers and H.E. the President .”
Aturu Abraham, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kwania, addressed security concerns during the rally. He directed the security teams to remain vigilant in protecting lives and property during campaign activities.
“Security personnel must remain disciplined and focused,” Aturu stated. “They must also desist from corrupt practices or compromising their duties in any way. The peace and integrity of this election process depend on your professionalism.”
He further cautioned political candidates at all levels to conduct their rallies in an orderly manner, respecting public spaces and maintaining decorum to avoid incitement or chaos.

In a show of overwhelming support, party officials in Kwania pledged to deliver a 99% win for President Museveni in the upcoming 2026 general elections. “We are on high gear,” declared one enthusiastic NRM chairperson. “Kwania stands firm behind the President.”
Following the engagement meeting, Dr. Akello Alice later presided over a classified security meeting at Kwania Central Police Station. In attendance were the RDC, Deputy RDC, ARDCs, District Police Commander (DPC), and DISO. While details of the meeting were not disclosed, sources indicate it focused on election preparedness, and strategies to ensure peaceful campaigns.
In an exclusive interview after the event, Deputy RDC Aturu Abraham expressed gratitude to Dr. Akello Alice for her guidance. “We are deeply grateful for the brilliant advice and wisdom she shared with us today. Her leadership has strengthened our resolve,” he said.
The mobilization in Kwania signals the beginning of what is expected to be an intense and highly organized electoral campaign across the Northern Region, as the NRM seeks to consolidate its support base ahead of the 15th, January 2026 general elections.
