Aduku Caroline Gloria Vows to Push for Alebtong Municipality Status, Alebtong University.

ALEBTONG, UGANDA – December 9, 2025: Alebtong District Woman Member of Parliament aspirant, Hon. Aduku Caroline Gloria of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), has pledged to spearhead efforts to elevate Alebtong Town Council to Municipality status if elected in the 2026–2031 general elections on the 15th, January 2026.
Speaking to journalists shortly after a vibrant campaign rally in Alebtong district, Aduku Caroline emphasized her commitment to transforming the socio-economic landscape of the constituency. “Alebtong deserves better infrastructure, expanded services, and greater recognition in the national development agenda. Elevating our town council to municipality status is a critical step toward achieving this vision,” she declared.
Aduku, who is running under the UPC flag, said she would collaborate closely with Members of Parliament from across the Lango sub-region to lobby the central government for the administrative upgrade. She described the move as key to unlocking investments, improving urban planning, and enhancing public service delivery in the area.
In addition to the municipality campaign, Aduku unveiled her second major policy goal: the establishment of Alebtong University, to boost education standard in Alebtong district as well as Lango region “We need a university right here in our district to nurture talent, promote research, and provide affordable higher education opportunities for our youth,” she said, urging the government to prioritize the project.
Education transformation remains at the heart of Aduku’s campaign. She pledged to champion policies that empower women, youth, and men through economic initiatives and improved access to quality education,health and as well as women empowerment. “My mission is to create wealth, foster unity, and uplift the standard of education in Alebtong District. When women thrive, communities thrive,” she stated.
Aduku is vying for the Alebtong District Woman MP seat against a competitive field, including Dr. Lakica Mercy, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer; Achen Christine Ayoo, an independent candidate; and Alip Mary, also running as an independent.
Her campaign has gained momentum among grassroots supporters, particularly women and young people, who laud her grassroots advocacy and detailed development agenda.
As the 2026 elections approaches, Hon. Aduku promises to secure municipal status for Alebtong and lobby for the establishment of Alebtong University if she joins the 12th parliMent of Uganda for transformation and regional recognition of Lango sub region globally.
