KWANIA, UGANDA-December 10, 2025: Kwania District Former LCV Chairman Okello Onac Abandons NRM Flag Bearers, Backs up MP Kenny Auma, Okae’s Parliamentary Bid.
Basil Anthony Okello Onac, Kwania District LCV former Chairman and staunch NRM cader has rallied voters in Kwania to vote Kwania District Woman MP Kenny Auma, Bob Okae, Kwania North County Member of Parliament and all UPC candidates in the forthcoming general election.

Speaking during the UPC campaign rally at Wigweng Village, Aboko Parish in Aduku Sub County on Tuesday, Okello Onac, a stanch member of National Resistance Movement-NRM party commended MP Kenny Auma and Bob Okae for pushing for establishment of Aboko Seed Secondary School, construction of churches and their continuous support to the community they lead.
“I belong to NRM but I support development oriented leaders. Auma and Okae stood with us in all times. Okae played a big role in the construction of Aduku Seed Secondary School while in Apac and many local churches here. I appeal to every voter in Kwania to vote for Okae and Auma but don’t forget to vote for President Museveni,”he said, appealing to Kwania voters to overwhelming vote for MP Okae, Auma and all UPC flag bearers in th next general election.

In 2021, Okello Onac Basil Anthony, an ardent member of UPC and Kwania Interim District LCV Chairman ignored his party whom he had supported for over 20 years and defected to NRM when he endorsed President Museveni sole presidential candidate, while on wealth creation nation wide tour in Oyam District.
Onac’s dramatic decision to support UPC’s candidates from the party he previously ignored came barely two month’s after he lost NRM flag for Kwania District LCV Chairperson’s race to George KK Akaca, who is currently facing Patrick Ogwang Obia, UPC flag bearer for the district LCV Chairperson’s Seat.
UPC’s flag bearers react
Patrick Ogwang Obia, UPC flag bearer for Kwania District LCV race hailed Okello Onac for his support to UPC flag bearers and pledged to appoint Okello Onac in his government, once elected the District LCV Chairperson of Kwania.
“UPC has given me the flag. I urge all voters in Kwania to set aside political party affiliations, religious and tribal differences and vote for me. You will be voting for a uniting factor, a game change and development oriented leader who will improve infrastructure, education and health sector in the district,”he said.
Bob Okae, Kwania North County Member of Parliament said Onac’s return will strengthen the party’s support in Aboko Parish, predominantly NRM stronghold.
MP Okae said while in Parliament with his counterpart Kenny Auma, they procured two ambulances worth Shs360 million each for the people of Kwania, procured red plastic chairs for public events, rallying voters in Kwania to re-elect them back to Parliament irrespective of politic party differences.
Kwania District Woman Member of Parliament Kenny Auma Lapat, said while in Parliament, they lobbied for 1.3 billion shillings road rehabilitation fund, rejected the Anti-Homosexuality Bill and initiated Skilling Initiative project across all Sub Counties.
She urged voters in Kwania to elect all UPC flag bearers in the forthcoming general election.
“I stood with you back home without political differences. NRM know that I extended my support to all of you. I really you to vote for Auma and Okae. Our Cardinal roles as members of Parliament is to appropriation, legislation and oversight functions. We appropriated Shs1.3 billion road rehabilitation fund and that’s why Aboko-Chawente road was rehabilitated,”she said.
