UPC MP Hon. Vincent Shedrick Obong Eyit Sends Powerful Christmas Message to Ugandans
LIRA, UGANDA – DECEMBER 19, 2025: As the world prepares to celebrate Christmas and usher in the new year, Hon. Obong Eyit, UPC flag bearer and MP candidate for Lira City West Division in the 2026 political race, has sent a powerful Christmas message to his fellow Ugandans and the people of Lira City.
In his message, Hon. Eyit quoted the book of Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” He encouraged Ugandans to hold onto this promise as they reflect on the past years and look forward to the new one (2026).

Hon. Eyit also took the opportunity to condole with those who have lost loved ones in 2025, particularly in Lira City and the Lango sub-region. He prayed for those still struggling to recover from various sicknesses and expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts in implementing the Parish Development Model (PDM). However, he requested that the president allocate more funds to Lira City West Division and other urban areas due to the high number of households.

As the country prepares for the 2026 general elections, Hon. Eyit emphasized the importance of peaceful celebration and unity among all citizens of the country. He addressed the issue of gender-based violence, which tends to escalate during the festive season, and urged Ugandans to seek alternative ways of managing anger and conflict. He encouraged people to allow Jesus into their hearts and experience the peace and abundant life.
Regarding the upcoming 2026 general elections, Hon. Eyit urged Ugandans to exercise their right to vote and make their voices heard. He recognized the importance of elected leaders in governance and called on Christians to pray for their leaders, including the UPC party president, Hon. Jimmy Michael Akena Obote. He also urged voters to promote civility and respect during campaigns and to restraint from violence.

In conclusion, Hon. Eyit advised Ugandans, especially those in Lira City, not to sell all their foodstuff for Christmas and New Year celebrations and to be cautious of politicians who might try to use them to cause chaos during the elections. He emphasized the need for peace and fairness in the electoral process.
“I say all this for God and my country,” Hon. Eyit concluded, signing off as the UPC MP candidate for Lira City West Division (2026-2031).
